The Challenge

The design of Oiligo website presented us with a challenging project. Being an eCommerce website, the functionality of the processing customer order had to be simple and secure. Moreover, the overall UI design had to fit in with the context and concept of the business for a desirable UX focusing on customer retention.

The Solution

Discover - The design and delivery of the project required extensive and, in depth research and complete understanding of the business and profile of the target audience. Oiligo being an eCommerce platform we had to consider the USP of the product. This way we would be able to gain better insight on what makes the particular product different from the others and the benefits of the product. And more vitally how would we be able to best reflect the USP of the product and the core value of the client through the design. The voice of the brand and the tone of the website would be important. Marketing and sales channels, product picture and profiles, the layout, the color schemes, interactions, transitions and typography, we realized would be the important aspects of the overall design that needed more focus attention from UI and UX perspective.

Define - Now equipped with extensive research information and data, the need was to lay a strong and creative foundation for the website. Our team of designers discussed various concepts and ideas that would not only perfectly be in sync with customer expectation and business needs, but a design that would be consistent and display the context of the product in the most visually articulate and eloquent manner. So we started with the basics of UI/UX design - ideating the design framework that would seamlessly imbibe the sales funnel, value proposition mapping, setting up of effective KPIs and information architecture, as effective communication would be one of the key aspects of this eCommerce website.

Design - In terms of design from the UI perspective, the transitions not only had to be smooth and seamless, but also needed to have a visual appeal and style. A captivating UI design would set a firm foundation for a convincing and persuasive user experience. The choice of color palette would have to correspond to the product and the brand image (Oiligo being an enterprise for microgreen products, we were extravagant with the use of green). The tone and styling of the UI had to be in harmony with the product profiles to make visual connection with the users and for a more emotional user experience.
From the UX design perspective, it was obvious from the start the design would have to create an emotional and engaging user experience leading customers to come back to the website again and again. So the main focus in terms of UX design for the Oiligo eCommerce website was customer or user retention. So in order to make this happen, our design team focused on highlighting the utility of the product in the best possible way. The usability of the website had to be smooth and simple to make the customer journey from browsing through the products all the way to making their purchase. And the website had to be all inclusive and accessible.

Deliver - Following the success of creating the prototype of the website, we put the site for user validation. The important aspects of the site that needed detailed scrutiny during the testing phase were the operational simplicity and ease of the site. This being an eCommerce site, ensuring the proper security of user data was extremely vital. The other aspects of the site that required proper validation were - the use of visual elements (product pictures), easy to locate menu options and ease of navigation and easy availability of general information regarding the products and services. When we delivered the final version of the product, it met expectations of the client both in terms of functional and efficient eCommerce website and a UI/UX design relevant and appealing to the target audience.
